As filmmaker Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar is making a lot of noise on social media after its release, the film has also become a matter of debate among audiences for its political undertones and provocative storytelling. Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan has also taken to Instagram to praise it, but he admitted that he ‘disagrees with the politics’ of the film.
Taking to Instagram Stories, Hrithik wrote, “I love cinema, I love people who climb into a vortex and let the story take control, spin them, shake them until what they want to say is purged out of them onto that screen. Dhurandhar is an example of that. Loved the storytelling. It’s cinema.”
The War 2 actor continued, “I may disagree with the politics of it, and argue about the responsibilities us filmmakers should bear as citizens of the world. Nevertheless, can’t ignore how loved and learnt from this one as a student of cinema. Amazing.” Like Ranveer’s character in Dhurandhar, Hrithik also plays a spy in Yash Raj Films’ high-profile spy franchise, War.
A few hours after sharing his review of Dhurandhar, Hrithik posted again about the film — this time praising it unabashedly. He wrote, “Still can’t get DHURANDHAR out of my mind. @adityadharfilms you are an incredible maker man. @ranveersingh the silent to the fierce what a journey and so damn consistent. #akshaykhanna has always been my fav and this film is proof why. @actormaddy bloody mad grace, strength and dignity!! But man @rakeshbedi what you did was phenomenal.. what an ACT, brilliant!! A huge big round of applause for everyone especially the makeup and prosthetics dept! I can’t wait for part 2!!!”

Akshay Kumar also took to social media to laud the film. He admitted that he was “blown away” by the narrative and wrote, “Watched Dhurandhar and I’m blown away. What a gripping tale and you’ve simply nailed it @AdityaDharFilms. We need our stories to be told in a hard-hitting way and I’m so glad the audiences are giving the film all the love it deserves.”
Ayushmann Khurrana called Ranveer Singh a “stud” for his portrayal in the film and wrote, “Bollywood just peaked with #Dhurandhar @adityadhar take a bow. Kya stud hai tu @ranveersingh.”

Actor and politician Smriti Irani also praised the film and wrote, “If you have looked into the eyes of the wife of a fallen soldier & walked her to the cremation ground , if you have visited the Jagti camp in Jammu , if you have seen the deserted temple premises of Sharika Devi in Srinagar , if you have met those who were on duty during Parliament attack or have family that survived the 26/11 Mumbai attack then nothing in Dhurandhar should lead you to outrage — after all it’s just a film . As a storyteller @adityadharfilms is a craftsperson par excellence , as a research fiend even more so. It’s the quivering face as he pulls the cover off a dead son that makes #akshayekhanna’s performance a lesson in craft & @ranveersingh ‘s piercing eyes that speak when he doesn’t is a must watch for those who aspire to be consistent in their pursuit of a legacy , that @rampal72 can be so menacing is a revelation … & the music OMG.”

Dhurandhar isn’t just a film — it’s the echo of lives lived and lost; and if cinema can make you feel that weight, maybe you owe it more than outrage. Those like me who have had the privilege of being in the vicinity of a legend called Ajit Doval may find it a tad bit weird to watch @actormaddy presumably play a cinematic version of him but then there could have been no better actor who could so calmly hold a storm within. Dhurandhar takes inspiration from real-life events involving geopolitical tensions and covert operations conducted by India’s R&AW in Pakistan. The film also stars Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt and Sara Arjun in pivotal roles. The film has collected Rs 179 crore within six days of release, according to Sacnilk.
