Arjun Rampal and his ex-wife Mehr Jesia have been co-parenting their two daughters – Mahikaa and Myra, after their divorce in 2018. The actor even went on to welcome his first child Arik, with girlfriend Gabriella Demetriades in 2019, and their second son in 2023. The couple even announced their engagement recently, after six years of dating. Now, in a recent interview, Arjun revealed that his daughters bond well with Gabriella, and co-parenting his daughters has been a learning process.
During a chat with Rhea Chakraborty on her podcast, he called parenting the “hugest challenge” in the world and said, “From little things, just have to be clutched onto you and are always hanging around. You are their everything. When they get their little wings and they start to fly out of your nest and experience life, their friendships, and traumas, all of that happens. You suddenly become kind of an observer.”

The actor continued, “Obviously, they know that you’ll have their back always. But, it’s not easy, it’s a different relationship altogether. You cannot say that the pressure is on her or me, or whatever. It is a relationship that is in an evolving stage. They are changing everyday. As they grow up, my daughters have different kinds of conversations – boyfriends, friends, and their own world and you are not really welcomed in that world.”
As his daughters Mahikaa (23) and Myra (20) grow older, it has been a learning path for Arjun Rampal as well. “All of us have gone through this in our lives. You are stuck to your parents’ hip, when you get this independence and fly out, and you are like ‘I can do this’. You go a little bit ahead and then when you have your child, you realise again about how it was. Then you appreciate more and come back. My relationship with my children will always be something that evolves,” he shared.

The 53-year-old feels that the best part about co-parenting is that his would-be wife Gabriella gels up with them well. “Mahikaa, Myra, and Gabriella got along really really well, touchwood. They can talk to her like a friend, even though I want to be that friend. Somehow, I have to evolve myself more, I am too old-fashioned for that. I am reaching there with my daughters now, they are not those little babies anymore,” he revealed.
Gabriella further added that her relationship with Arjun’s daughters has always flown naturally. “They have been amazing through all of it. With everything, we haven’t been prescriptive or we haven’t told them that they have to respect me. They don’t have to, they have to have a relationship with me. And if they like me, great. We were very clear on that, that there’s no pressure on them, let them settle into a nice rythm on their own. They are fun, lovely girls.”

On the work front, Arjun Rampal is currently enjoying the success of his latest film, Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh in the lead role.
