Bollywood’s A-list couple Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan have often dealt with trolls and constant speculation about their relationship. In a recent interaction, Abhishek opened up about how they have kept their daughter Aaradhya Bachchan away from such chatter. The actor also revealed that his 14-year-old daughter doesn’t have a phone and avoids googling her parents.
Speaking to PeepingMoon, Abhishek said, “Aishwarya has instilled a great respect in Aaradhya towards the film industry and what we do. She has taught her that we are what we are because of what the films and audience have given this to us.” Talking about Aaradhya and how she is growing into a confident teenager, he added, “She has an opinion. She is a very sure teenager. She has distinct opinions which we discuss in private, but she has a wonderful way of conveying everything.”
Abhishek also revealed that their daughter is focused on her studies and doesn’t own a cell phone. “She is 14 years old and she doesn’t have a phone. If her friends want to get in touch with her, they have to call her mother’s phone and that’s something we had decided a long time ago. She has access to the internet, but she is more interested in doing her homework and researching. She loves school so she is into that.”
When asked if Aaradhya ever gets bothered by rumours about her parents while browsing online, he responded, “I don’t think she does that. I don’t think that is what interests her, and she won’t believe anything that she reads. Her mother has taught her not to believe everything that she reads. Like my parents were with me, we are completely honest with the family. So, we are never in a position where anyone needs to question anybody.”
He was also asked to address rumours that he quit smoking and drinking after Aishwarya became pregnant with Aaradhya. Abhishek confirmed, “I have stopped both of these, sadly. No, I don’t touch them at all.”
Aishwarya and Abhishek tied the knot in 2007, and in 2011, they welcomed their daughter Aaradhya. The couple have recently faced rumours suggesting trouble in their marriage, but they have chosen not to comment on such speculation and continue to make public appearances together, putting on a united front.
