Veteran actor Dharmendra may have left the world, but his legacy continues to shine brightly. The actor, who passed away on November 24 just days before turning 90, was a living legend—someone about whom everyone had only warm and affectionate things to say. Despite the immense fame he earned in the industry, he remained grounded and was known as “the man of the soil.”
However, when he breathed his last, his family chose to cremate him privately, giving no opportunity for fans to pay their final respects. This left many admirers deeply disappointed, as they expressed their hurt and anger toward the family. Such reactions only reflected how profoundly he was loved. Through his active work, he continued to remain relevant and cherished, even by the younger generations.
Now, his Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya co-star Rakesh Bedi has shared why Dharmendra continues to receive such overwhelming love.
“Dharam ji was extremely smart throughout his career,” Rakesh Bedi told Galatta India.
He further explained, “He worked with filmmakers like Hrishikesh Mukherji and Bimal Roy. He made sure to collaborate with the best directors. He did films like Satyakam and Anupama. But when he eventually transitioned into commercial cinema, he gained the image of a He-Man.”
While his choice of films made him the star he became, it was his warmth that kept him alive in people’s hearts even after his passing.

Rakesh Bedi added, “While this is mostly about his professional life, Dharmendra was a very kind-hearted man with a big heart. He kept his arms open for anybody and everybody who came to him. He greeted people with a hug, sat with them, spoke to them. That is what won people over.”
Rakesh Bedi is currently seen in Dhurandhar, which has crossed the Rs 150 crore mark in India.
